If you sell in Germany or to European businesses with Shopify, your customers are starting to ask for e-invoices. Since 1 January 2025 German businesses must be able to receive B2B e-invoices, and issuing them becomes mandatory in stages in 2027 and 2028. This app creates the e-invoice for every order on its own, with no separate invoicing software.

What the app does

  • ZUGFeRD 2.3 / Factur-X 1.07 PDF (PDF/A-3 with the XML inside) and XRechnung 3.0 (UBL), following the European standard EN 16931.
  • Automatic invoice when the order is paid or when it ships, as you prefer, or by hand from the app.
  • Automatic credit notes (Gutschrift) on full or partial refunds, linked to the original invoice.
  • Sequential numbering with no gaps, with your own pattern (prefix, year, digits).
  • VAT ID, company and Leitweg-ID at cart for B2B customers and public bodies. If you already use our VIES app, the VAT ID it validates is reused.
  • Reverse charge on sales to businesses in another EU country, and Kleinunternehmer mode (§ 19 UStG).
  • Invoice link on the order, ready for your notifications, and a ZIP export of any period for your accountant.
  • Invoices in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian or Dutch.

Important

Files are checked with the public XRechnung (KoSIT) and ZUGFeRD (Mustang) validators. The app creates the invoices; it does not send them to any authority or to Peppol. VAT rates are yours to set in Shopify: we do not give tax advice.

Plans and pricing

  • Free: up to 50 invoices a month, everything included.
  • Unlimited: $9.99 a month. Unlimited invoices, 7-day trial. Credit notes never count.

Going over the limit loses nothing: orders wait and are issued when you change plan or the month starts. Plans are billed by Shopify in US dollars on your Shopify invoice.

FAQ

Do I need invoicing software?

No. The app numbers and creates the invoices with your company details and each order's data.

What is the difference between ZUGFeRD and XRechnung?

ZUGFeRD (Factur-X in France) is a readable PDF with the XML inside; XRechnung is XML only and is what German public bodies ask for. The app creates both for every order. More info
