The PrestaShop sales and margin module calculates the product margin of every sale with the cost it had on that day and matches it with the price history, cost and stock. Reports by product, category, brand, country and customer group, comparison with the previous period and CSV export. Compatible with PrestaShop 9.2 and with PrestaShop 1.7, 8 and 9, with no overrides.

Why PrestaShop statistics don't tell you how much you earn

PrestaShop's statistics tell you how much you sell, but not how much you earn on each product. And if you calculate your profit margin with today's cost, you get it wrong for everything sold before the supplier's last price increase. When you change a price, you also can't tell whether you sold more or simply earned less.

What the sales and margin module does

The module stores, for every order line, the cost, category and brand the product had on the day of the sale. With that it calculates your true product margin and matches it with the history of price, cost and stock. On install it processes your past orders: you see the margin of the last 12 months from day one.

Everything it includes

  • Margin with the cost at the time: it uses the cost saved in the order; if missing, the current cost or the cost of the pack components, and if there is none, a default margin that you decide. Every figure shows how much is actual and how much is estimated.
  • Sales and profitability by whatever you need: period, product, combination, category, brand, country and customer group. Sales, units, orders, average order value, cost, margin, margin percentage and markup.
  • Comparison with the previous period on every indicator, and evolution charts by day, week or month.
  • From the total down to the order: every row leads to the orders that make it up.
  • Price, cost and stock history: it stores only the changes, with a daily snapshot by cron or when the back office is opened. For each price change it shows the before and after (units per day, sales and margin) and how many extra units you need to make up for a price cut.
  • Discounts and refunds properly allocated: coupons are spread across the lines and credit slips are deducted from the right line. Multi-currency using the order's exchange rate.
  • Data quality: percentage of lines with a cost, products without a cost and cost import by CSV, with the option to also save them in the catalog.
  • Reconciliation with PrestaShop: one screen compares its figures with the native dashboard and explains every difference.
  • Alerts: sales below cost, negative margin and margin under the threshold you set.
  • Separate permissions: the "Sales" tab shows no costs; "Profitability" does. Each employee profile sees what you give it.
  • CSV export ready for Excel (French locale too).
  • Optional heatmap: off by default; while it is off it adds nothing to your store. When enabled it only records visitors who accept analytics cookies (with our EU Cookie Law GDPR module or with Google Consent Mode), and never sessions, keystrokes, forms, IP addresses or customers. You see clicks, scroll and movement on the product, category, home or cart page itself, by device and dates, matched with the product page conversion.
  • Technical: PrestaShop 1.7 to 9.2, multistore, 6 languages, no overrides, batch processing for large catalogs and order volumes, GDPR hooks, and data is kept on uninstall (unless you ask to delete it).

Frequently asked questions

Will I see the margin of the orders I already have?

Yes. On install it processes your past orders in batches. If PrestaShop saved the cost in the order, that one is used; if not, the current cost or the default margin, flagged as estimated.

Is it my store's profit?

It is the product margin: sales excluding VAT minus the cost of goods sold, with discounts and refunds. It does not deduct shipping, fees or fixed costs.

Since when do I have the price history?

The history of what your customers paid comes from your orders, going back as far as they do. The catalog price, cost and stock history starts the day you install it.

Is the heatmap GDPR compliant?

It comes switched off. If you enable it, it only loads when the visitor accepts analytics cookies, it stores no personal data and deletes the aggregated data after 90 days (configurable). It includes the text for your cookie policy.

Will it slow down my store?

No. Reports are calculated in the back office on their own table; the heatmap, if you enable it, is a small deferred script that only loads on a share of visits.

Which PrestaShop versions is it compatible with?

PrestaShop 1.7, 8 and 9, up to 9.2, and PHP 7.1 or higher. It is multistore, comes in 6 languages and uses no overrides.

Can an employee see sales but not costs?

Yes. The «Sales» tab shows no costs and the «Profitability» tab does; you grant access to each one by employee profile.
