  • Rules by attribute for each category (e.g. «Men» → size L; «Red» → red colour), with priority and the option to apply them to subcategories.
  • Product-by-product choice from the product page: combination and image for each of its categories.
  • The product list shows the image, price and link of that combination; customers land on the product page with it already selected.
  • Combinations in stock go first, so a sold-out one is never shown.
  • Works with faceted search, pagination and sorting.
  • Compatible with PrestaShop 1.7, 8 and 9 (up to 9.2, the latest version), multistore and the classic and Hummingbird themes.

How does it work?

  • In Catalog > Combination per category, create a rule: choose the category and the attributes the combination must have (same group = any of them; different groups = all at once).
  • If a product needs something specific, choose its combination and image for each category in the Modules tab of the product page: it overrides the rules.
  • Done: each category shows its own combination, with its image, price and link, also when filtering with facets.

Frequently asked questions

Which PrestaShop versions is the Combination by Category module compatible with?

It is compatible with PrestaShop 1.7 to 9.2. In multistore mode, it saves rules and choices per shop, and it is translated into Spanish and French. When you update, it keeps the combinations chosen in version 1.x of the Línea Gráfica module.

What does the Combination by Category module do and what is it for?

It shows, in each category, the product combination chosen for that category, with its image, price and link. For example, in “Black T-shirts” the T-shirt appears in black, and its product page opens with that combination already selected.

How do I set which combination appears in each category?

You can use category rules based on attribute values, or choose product by product from a tab on the product page. Values of the same attribute are alternatives, and values of different attributes are all required. You can apply rules to subcategories and see how many products each rule changes.

Which combination is shown if several match the rule, or if no rule applies?

If several combinations match the rule, the ones in stock come first. If no rule or choice applies, the default combination is shown. Product-by-product choices take priority over rules, and a category's own rules take priority over those of its parent categories.

Does it work with faceted search and category pagination?

Yes, it works with faceted search and pagination too. It also shows the combination image instead of the product cover image, and you can turn that image and the in-stock preference on or off separately.

Where are rules managed, and what happens with deleted products?

On a dedicated page in the Catalog menu, called Combination by category. From there you can enable, disable, edit and delete rules, and remove choices made product by product. Rules and choices for deleted products and categories are removed automatically.
