Google will replace Universal Analytics with GA4 in July 2023
Since Google announced the launch ofGoogle Analytics 4 in 2021 , the entire world of digital marketing and e-commerce in general has been waiting for a date for the final dissolution of Universal Analytics. And that day has arrived. The American giant has announced thatfrom July 1, 2023, GA4 will be the new standard for Google's measurement tool, replacing the current Universal Analytics.Even though it will stop collecting information after that date, it will not be the end of Universal immediately. Users will be able to access data from this platform for up tosix months afterit is replaced by GA4.
What should you do to avoid losing your data?
If you haven't already, you should create a GA4 property to start collecting data. This will prevent months close to the Universal end date without metrics. If you already have your GA4 property set up, we recommendexporting the datafrom your Universal account and adding it to your new one so you can view that data once it stops collecting metrics. If you also have a Prestashop ecommerce, you can implementGoogle Analytics 4with the module developed by our team to avoid headaches with the installation of the new tag.
What advantages does Google Analytics 4 bring us?
This new version of Google's measurement tool has been designed with new user behavior in mind in the digital environment. People no longer only browse the web, but also use a multitude of applications. In the case of having an e-commerce site that had a website and an app, with Universal Analytics we needed 2 different properties. With GA4 we only need one.By unifying all properties and having all the information in a single property, there will be greater control over the data. This will translate into the possibility of creating more precise strategies. If you want to know more about the advantages and how to install GA4, you can check out ourblog postwhere we talked about this new generation of Google's measurement tool.If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
