Is your Shopify store compliant with EU rules?
What the checker reviews
Many EU obligations for online stores have a deadline and can be seen from the outside: any customer, competitor or consumer authority can check them by visiting your website. The checker looks at the public side of a Shopify store (the home page, a product, the cart and the policies) and reviews six points:
- Withdrawal button (Directive (EU) 2023/2673): from June 19, 2026, stores must offer a clearly visible function to withdraw from an online contract.
- Harmonised legal guarantee notice (Directive (EU) 2024/825): from September 27, 2026, information about the legal guarantee using the common EU design.
- Product safety information (GPSR Regulation (EU) 2023/988): manufacturer, EU responsible person and warnings on every product page.
- Previous price on sales (Omnibus Directive): the lowest price of the 30 days before announcing a discount.
- Environmental claims: from September 27, 2026, generic ones such as "eco" or "sustainable" are banned unless they can be proven.
- VAT for EU businesses: if you sell without VAT to businesses in another country, you need their VAT number validated in VIES.
How to read the report
Each point appears as Compliant, Review, Missing or Cannot be checked, with what we saw in the store and how to fix it. "Review" means something is there, but not enough or not where it should be. "Cannot be checked" appears, for example, if the store has no discounted products at that moment.
The checker is automatic and indicative: it reads texts and links and looks for signals. It may miss something that is there (for example, a notice loaded with JavaScript after checkout) or be confused by an ambiguous sentence. It is not a legal audit: use it as a to-do list and, if in doubt, consult a lawyer.
What if my store is not on Shopify?
For now we only scan Shopify stores, because we know exactly where everything is on them. The obligations are the same for any online store selling to consumers in the EU, wherever it is based.
How to fix what is missing
For the points that an app can solve, the report links to ours: the EU withdrawal button, the EU legal guarantee notice with the GARAN label and VAT number validation in VIES. All of them have a free plan. For the rest (product texts, manufacturer details, sale prices), the report tells you what to change. If you prefer that we do it for you, get in touch.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to give access to my store?
No. We only read what any visitor sees, just like a browser. We do not enter the admin panel or place orders.
Can I scan someone else's store?
Yes, only the public side is scanned. To avoid overloading anyone, we limit requests per person and per hour.
Do you store the result?
We do not store the store address or the report; we only count, anonymously, which points fail most often, to improve the tool.
